The FIBREE Industry Report highlights that blockchain is not just a local phenomenon. The action is happening in every continent and there are multiple hotspots equally spread throughout the world. USA is the country and London the city with most blockchain initiatives for real estate. Despite its true potential is still relatively unknown in many local markets, the number of ‚blockchain for real estate‘-initiatives has increased rapidly since 2016. FIBREE gathered and analyzed information about more than 500 existing products and asked its 55 regional chairs about the local state of the market.

Since founding the non-profit organisation in July 2018 in the Netherlands, it grew from eight founders to a world spanning network represented by more than forty regional chairs on every continent and more than 5000 participants globally – and still growing. This year’s real estate prediction about blockchain – our fourth – marks a healthy shift in perception of the technology’s impact. In our 2016 prediction, we highlighted the great potential of blockchain for the real estate market. In 2017, we predicted a year in which first generation applications would be built – borne out by the number of proofs of concept that were conducted.
